When Mad Men moved from BBC Four to Sky Atlantic, Rafaela Perera led the creative development of the innovative campaign. The campaign was crafted with Mad Men’s core fanbase in mind and featured an animated tease and multiple tactical trailers targeting different audiences.

The 5th series premiered with a promo junction takeover (the first of its kind) featuring bespoke continuity voices of the era and famous ads from the 60’s. Working with Sky Media, brands including Fairy liquid, Kit Kat, Cadbury’s Flake, Citroen and Birdseye acquired airtime on Sky Atlantic so that some of the nation’s favourite old commercials could be aired. The event gave Sky Atlantic a strong social presence on premiere night with #madmenonsky trending heavily on Twitter.

 Count-down Clock

Count-down Clock

 

To build anticipation of the new series in fan communities, we created a count-down clock that incorporated a twitter feed #madmenonsky. Fans could download the clock onto their computers or smartphones to see an animated man falling through frame, triggering fan tweets to appear on screen. Once we reached transmission time, the screen switched over to exclusive images from the show, alerting fans to the fact that the new series had begun on Sky Atlantic.

We also worked with BAFTA to create a special event at the Curzon in Mayfair which hosted fans, social influencers, and key press figures. Rafaela also Creatively Directed all of the branding for the event.
