Chief Red Cloud (Makhpiya Luta) 1822 –1909, was a great Sioux Warrior, who lived amongst the Oglala tribe. He was a good man and fought for the rights and freedom of the Indian Nation.

In 1865, he did everything in his power to discourage the intrusion of white people along the Bozeman trail. However, peaceful bargaining from the Indians fell on deaf ears, and the whites continued to take the land, often to their detriment.

Fort Kearney

In 1866, Red Cloud led the massacre of 80 troops at Fort Kearney, one of the posts built to protect the trail. This event led to the abandonment of the trail by the white people in 1868.

After the Wounded Knee massacre (Link), Chief Red Cloud eventually agreed to sign a peace treaty with the government in Washington, DC, and settle down on the reservation at Pine Ridge, South Dakota. However, there were those of the Indian Nation, who disagreed with Red Clouds decision to live in peace, and continued fighting to no avail.

Red Cloud did what he felt was right by his people, although he was lied to, and totally misunderstood the conditions that the Nation would eventually have to suffer. His people were offered baron lands and a complete change to their education and way of being.

Chief Red Cloud lived peacefully on the Pine Ridge Reservation (Link), until his passing to The Great White Spirit in 1909. His memory lives on within the hearts of many.

The Worlds biggest injustice has been made, to the Worlds most Spiritual, Indigenes people, and has never been resolved. There are still many living in Government tents and huts, freezing cold and starving, suffering a cruel fate because of their race.

However, at this time, many Indians are returning to their homelands, and leaving the American way of being. They are returning to the old ways of their people.

Chief Red Cloud came to me about 4 years ago, with encouraging messages that gave me the strength needed to continue walking my Spirit path. Some of his first words to me, after a particularly difficult learning were :

“One day I spoke to a little Girl,
and the next day she was a Woman,
I am so proud of you my Daughter,
I trust your decisions and strength.
It is time for you to evolve Spiritually and Earthly.
One day I lost my daughter,
and now she is found.”
‘Keep safe my Daughter’.

I asked Black Hawk why Red Cloud often referred to me as ‘daughter’, and he explained that I had been Chief Red Clouds Daughter in that lifetime, that my name had been ‘Humming Bird’. However, I was not on the earth plain very long, before passing to Spirit at 3 years old. Many say, this was the time when Red Cloud changed.

I have now been asked to work with Chief Red Cloud in Trance. I am honoured to include this experience on my journey for Spirit.

As this site is something completely new to me, it is another part of the journey that I was unaware of. Spirit never fail to amaze me with their surprises.
